The Blood are a matriarchal people. They believe in the power, strength, beauty, and ferocity of women. The women are their rulers- there are more female castes in terms of power structure, than there are male. The men work with and beside women rather than against them. There has been no Queen born to the devastated lands, though all the Blood await one.
The Blood honor the Darkness; they for have deep admiration and respect for the Warlord Prince of Dragons known as Lorn, and his mate and Queen, Draca. They reside in the Keep and tend to home, along with the Keep's historian, Geoffrey. Lorn was laid to rest under the Keep and lives in the walls- and is rumored to continue to oversee the Keep even in his restful state. They believe in the glory of Witch; she came to live in Kaeleer once, and her rule was beautiful and dark and glorious. Though feared, and bringing destruction as well as beauty, Witch was loved and revered for her power and glory. In simple truth, the Blood do not fear the Darkness- they look for it. For her. Coined terms of the Blood include "Mother Night" and "may the Darkness be merciful".
The Jeweled Blood are capable of telepathic communication. These communication threads are called "psychic-threads". These communications can be based on gender (male to male)(spear to spear), (female to female)(distaff to distaff). Communication can also be done distaff to spear, based on Jewel (Ebon-Gray to Ebon-Gray), or rank (Warlord Prince to Warlord Prince). Note, anyone on a darker thread can listen to lighter threads. For example, an Ebon-Gray Jeweled Blood can hear a Red Jeweled psychic-thread conversation, regardless of gender and rank, but no one lighter than Ebon-Gray can hear the Ebon-Gray Jeweled psychic-thread.
The Blood can travel using the Winds, and call it "riding the Winds". This is a series of psychically connected spider-web type things that are capable of carrying you from one place to another. They are based on Jewel. For example, someone with a Sapphire Jewel cannot ride the Red Winds, unless someone who wears a Red Jewel accompanies them and shields them. However, darker Jeweled Blood can ride the lighter Winds if they so choose; times when this may be appropriate is during times of tiredness or mental/physical/psychic exhaustion. It's also important to know that the darker the Wind, the faster you can travel. The fastest, darkest Wind is obviously the Black; the slowest, lightest Wind is the White.
It's also important to note that the Blood have a unique way of phrasing their tempers. They call the two kinds of anger by different names; hot and cold. Hot is usually the anger between friends, family, and other casual relationships. This is the everyday anger; anger over the dishes not being properly washed; anger over the laundry not being done; menial anger.
Cold, however, is much more dangerous. Females who "go cold", as it's called, are most lethal and Warlord Princes have a great capacity to go cold very quickly. This is usually in the presence of someone they don't like, have a rivalry with, or have other issues with such as that person endangering their Queen, someone threatening their home, or any other big issue. There's also a thing known as the "killing edge". This is most frequently ridden by male Blood, as they have sharp tempers, and most especially by Warlord Princes. Any Blood have the capacity to ride the killing edge, but most females are not that easily pushed to the edge. This is when the Blood do not care about the consequences of their actions; their sole focus is war, battle, blood, and death. This kind of anger, this level of ferocity and danger, is not one to be messed with. Always be careful when treading around someone who can have these levels of tempers- they may be more an enemy than an ally.
Please keep in mind that there is no law against murder in the realm of the Blood. However, the actions of your character are your responsibility, and if you start a war, you better be prepared to help finish it. If you live in the realm of Kaeleer, do your best to respect Protocol. It had become warped in Terrielle, but here in Kaeleer, we do our best to respect our roots, despite them being slaughtered in Witch's rule. If you interact with the Kindred, keep in mind that they are Blood, too. They are given Jewels, make Offerings to the Darkness, and act and live in such a way that the Blood would be proud of.
